People-first. Precision-driven.
Nationally recognized leaders in employment medical evaluations — matching the right people to the right roles since 1979.

Three dimensions. One decision.
Three dimensions. One decision.
Occu-Med was founded in Honolulu in 1979 to help public and private employers reduce the costs associated with workforce health and safety. Today we serve over a million employees across more than 15,000 network locations worldwide — including international markets since 2006.
What sets us apart is our proprietary three-part approach. Any physician can assess whether someone is healthy. But Occu-Med evaluates the complete picture — integrating legal standards, physical job demands, and medical findings to determine genuine role fitness.
Statistics show 41% of workplace injuries occur in the first year on the job. Our system is designed to prevent exactly that — matching the right person to the right role, every time.

Beyond systems and numbers, community service is a foundational value. We give back because the work of keeping people healthy and employed only means something when it’s rooted in genuine care for the communities we serve.
FAQs
FAQS Commonly Asked Questions
What is OSHA medical surveillance?
OSHA medical surveillance is the ongoing medical monitoring of employees exposed to specific workplace hazards, required by individual OSHA standards so exposure-related health effects are detected early. A program defines which exams are required, how often they repeat, what the provider must report to the employer, and how long records are kept. It is monitoring tied to exposure, not a one-time pre-hire physical.
What’s the difference between a pre-placement and a pre-employment?
Both terms describe the same evaluation: a medical assessment conducted after a conditional job offer to confirm a candidate can safely perform essential job functions.
How long do results take?
Most evaluations are completed and reported within 24–48 hours, depending on the scope of testing required.
Can Occu-Med manage surveillance across multiple states and sites?
Yes. Occu-Med runs one consistent program across every location through a national provider network, so a multi-site employer gets the same protocols, quality, and recordkeeping everywhere, instead of managing a separate clinic relationship at each site and reconciling records by hand.
Are employees required to participate?
Occu-Med ensures all requests comply with legal standards.
What happens if accommodations are needed?
Analyzing work restrictions and accommodations to lead employers to valid defensible decisions of
reasonableness or undue hardship.
